The Gladiator’s Mistress
Phaedra, a dutiful daughter of Rome’s most influential senator, has no choice but to marry a man chosen by her father. But a chance encounter with handsome gladiator Valens Secundus sends her pulse racing—and, for the first time, makes her wish she could choose her own fate. They make each other a promise: she’ll insist on having the right to select her next husband, and he’ll do everything within his power to win his freedom.
A gladiatorial champion, Valens has fought his way up from poverty to become a star in the arena. The only two things he craves are his freedom and the luscious Phaedra, both seemingly far out of reach. But four years after their fateful meeting, Phaedra returns to Rome and soon becomes a widow, and Valens answers to no one but himself.
They’re finally free to explore their fiery passion—while evading a powerful and wealthy new suitor of Phaedra’s—until Valens must return to the arena one last time. And in order for Phaedra to control her own destiny and claim her love, Valens will need to survive the battle of his life.
Ms. Hope Ramsay, Author of The Last Chance Series
She is married to a good ol’ Georgia boy who resembles every single one of her Southern heroes.

Ms. Ramsay will be reading from her recent release Last Chance Hero.
Last Chance Hero
Ross Gardiner has had his fill of difficult relationships. Returning to Last Chance after a rough divorce, the town’s handsome new fire chief just wants safety and stability-a tall order given his dangerous job and the way he has the attention of all the single women in town.
All except Sabina Grey, the girl who stole his heart when they were teenagers.
Sabina knows a lot about playing it safe. Always the good girl, she’s now responsible for her antiques store and caring for her sister.

Lady Jane’s Salon Silver Spring October reading was amazing. We were joined by Ms. Mary Behre, Author of the Tidewater series, Ms. TW Knight and her debut novel, His Soul to Keep, Ms. Loni Lynne, Author of Immortal Silence, Ms. Rebecca Rivard, Author of Claiming Valeria and Ms. Delancey Stewart, Author of Cosmos and Commitment.
Stories were full of adventure, love, struggles and happily-ever-afters. Special thanks to our guest authors and all who came. Till next time.
Ms. Mary Behre, Author of Energized
Award-winning author, Mary Behre, is the lone female in a house full of males and the undisputed queen of her domain. She even has the glittery tiara to prove it.
She loves stories with humor, ghosts, mysteries and above all else, a good romance. When not writing, she enjoys reading, gluten-free baking, and hanging out at the beach with the most important men in her life, her family.
Her debut paranormal romance, SPIRITED (Tidewater Novel #1) was an award-winning manuscript before it sold to Berkley Sensation. The Tidewater Series is mix of humor, suspense, and a psychic love-connection. The first three stories are about three sisters separated years before in the foster care system.
As they search for love, each other, and a way to live with their psychic abilities, they’re tossed into the middle of mysteries that only their unique gifts can help solve.
She is represented by the fabulous Nalini Akolekar of Spencerhill Associates.
Ms. Behre will be reading from her latest release, Energized, book 3 of the Tidewater series.
Energized (Book 3: Tidewater series)
She’s searching for a sign . . .
Hannah Halloran has always believed in her gift. The things she sees through her psychic touch have never led her wrong before. Not when they led her to an unforgettable night with a sexy marine at a bar.
Not when she felt a need to leave her home and find the sisters she barely knows. And not now, when she is an unwilling witness to a brutal murder . . .
He’s ready to show her . . .
All Niall Graham wants is some peace. He’s recovering from the horrors of war, struggling to save his family’s restaurant, and desperate to forget Hannah, the beautiful woman who left him with memories of a mind-blowing night together and a bogus phone number.
But a quiet life is hard to manage—especially when Hannah strides back into his restaurant with the news that a serial killer is on the loose and lurking closer than anyone could have guessed . . .
Ms. TW Knight, Author of His Soul to Keep
After moving to Maryland her first artistic expressions were in the forms of crafts, sketches and paintings. In later years she even dabbled in comic book art, before getting her Associates Art Degree in Studio Art.
During the 1980’s Ms. Knight branched out into jewelry design creating a small handmade jewelry business, which is still operating today.
While she had begun writing in her early teens it was not until 2007 when she met a wonderful group of likeminded women (through of all things an online fan club discussion for one hot young vampire) who encouraged her to take that first step and introduce her intriguing stories to the world. After that the dam of creativity broke and a multitude of plot bunnies burst forth.
By day, Ms. Knight is a Customer Service manager for an insurance brokerage handling clients numerous daily needs; by night, she wields her mighty keyboard to craft otherworldly universes filled with fantastical – and often lusty – creatures, who beckon us to join them in their irresistible adventures that determine the fate of men and angels.”
Ms. Knight has been inspired by everything from music, art, cultural and religious mythology, ancient aliens’ theory, and history.
Over the years a collection of writers have helped to shape her thinking and views of the world, including Ursula Le Guin, Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, Tanya Huff, JD Ward, Gena Showalter, Larrisa Ione, Alexandria Ivy, Kresley Cole, Jeaniene Frost, Kevin Hearne, Colleen Doran, and Mercedes Lackey.
Ms. Knight will be reading from her first release, His Soul to Keep (Book 1: Dark Knights Of Heaven series).
Lose your soul, find your heart…

Rail is captivated by Cassidy immediately, but fears that it’s only the connection to his soul that’s fuels his interest. He’s vowed to never fall in love but fate has different plans. The more he fights his growing feelings the deeper in love he falls. Cassidy not only holds his soul but his heart. Now he will fight Heaven and Hell to protect her.
Heaven abandoned them, but they did not abandon their calling. Once they were the Watchers, teachers and mentors to human kind. Now soulless and exiled from Heaven, forced into an endless war, some will fall while others rise to find their destinies. They are the Dark Knights of Heaven.
Ms. Loni Lynne, Author of Immortal Silence
Born in north-central Michigan, Ms. Loni Lynne still loves the quiet woods, lakes and rivers in Otsego County and the Victorian era bay side houses of Little Traverse Bay. But after decades of moving around the country as a child and twenty-five years of marriage to her personal hero, she calls western Maryland her home.
Serving in the United States Navy didn’t prepare her for the hardest job ever, being a stay at home mom, to her two wonderful daughters. After years of volunteering as a scout leader, PTA officer, and various other volunteer positions, all while still writing snippets of story ideas, her husband decided it was time for her to put her heart to finishing a story. He gave her a laptop, portable hard drive and his blessings to have a finished manuscript, ready to be sent out to the masses in one year. He created a writing monster.
Ms. Lynne will be reading from her latest release, Immortal Silence.
Running from vampires and finding out her daughter, Lucy is missing, is not how Major Pam Griffith wanted to return after serving her two weeks of reserve duty. She’s at her wits end and the only one she can turn to is Jack Tabor, the man who she spent one night with eight years ago who changed her life forever.
Jack Tabor’s quiet, immortal lifestyle is turned upside down when sexy Pamela Griffith hunts him down to help her find her mute daughter. As far as he remembers, they’ve only met recently through mutual friends, but she insists they’d met before. He has the natural ability to make his victims forget so how can she remember him, and he not remember her? But when he finds out he’s a father his comfortable life is thrown into turmoil. Now the Dacian gods are threatening to take his daughter, and it will be over his dead body.
Jack and Pam must race time and the odds to get Lucy safely to Dacia before the Dacian goddess, Bendis, claims her young life as her own. But will Jack and Pam’s romantic past get in the way of their silent daughter’s future? Or are they doing what the gods have preordained for Lucy’s and Dacia’s future?
Ms. Rebecca Rivard, Author of Claiming Valeria
As a teenager, Ms. Rebecca Rivard read way too many romances, little realizing she was actually preparing for a career. After a detour through various genres, she’s returned to her first love. She has placed highly in a number of romance writing contests, including a first for sexiest scene in the MRW Reveal Your Inner Vixen contest.
Like the river fada in her Fada Shapeshifter Series, Rebecca is happiest in or near the water, believes that the fae are beautiful but dangerous and could cheerfully exist in a world without TV—although not without her e-reader.
She’s still trying to figure out what her superpower is.
Ms. Rivard will be reading from her recent release, Claiming Valeria (Book 2 of the Fada Shapeshifter Series).
Claiming Valeria (Book 2 of the Fada Shapeshifter Series)
Rui had everything he’d ever wanted. He was the Rock Run second and he’d found his mate, the sexy Portuguese shifter Valeria. But it all fell apart when he assassinated an innocent man, leaving the man’s young daughter an orphan.
Sick at heart, he brought the girl back to Valeria and then went out for a night of heavy drinking that ended with him ensnared by the sun fae queen.
But can she trust him with her heart?
It was hard, but Valeria forged a new life for herself and her adopted daughter. She even found a new man. Then Rock Run’s alpha is kidnapped by the sun fae and Rui steps in to reclaim his position as second.
Now he’s determined to win back Valeria as well.A dark secret threatens them all… But the new man is hiding a dark Gift. Soon Rui and Valeria are in a fight for not just their love but their lives–and that of the little girl they’ve both come to adore.
Praise for the Fada Shapeshifter Series: “An awesome read…promises to be a fantastic series!” “Once I picked this novel up I couldn’t put it down.” “Strong world building and an original premise…”
Ms. Delancey Stewart, Author of Cosmos and Commitment
Ms. Delancey Stewart writes several different series, but they all have one thing in common — romance! She actually didn’t set out to be a romance writer, but that’s another story…and one I hope she will share with us a later date…
She loves writing…but her life includes a “day job” and kids, so when not writing, she is wearing one of many hats around the house. Literally. At her home there are a lot of hats to chose from. That’s because she has two small boys, so these hats galore include cowboy hats, knight’s helmets, pirate hats, superhero masks (kind of a hat, right??), and fireman hats, among others. Her personal favorite is the coonskin cap with the raccoon tail hanging down the back.
When wearing her writers’ hat (which is a huge white bonnet festooned with purple ribbons and flowers… okay, not really. But that would be cool), she is usually trying to work and weave her love of travel, wine, and history into a romance that readers will enjoy.
Ms. Stewart is represented by Nalini Akolekar of Spencerhill Associates.
She will be reading from her latest release…Cosmos and Commitments.
Cosmos and Commitment
The Girlfriends of Gotham are back in the third installment in the romantic comedy series that has been dubbed Sex and the City for a new generation! Join these hilarious friends for another adventure in Manhattan, filled with romance, cocktails and friendship.

Welcome back from this summer’s hiatus. We were pleased to host Ms. Emily Greenwood, Ms. Sally MacKenzie and Ms. Siera London. The evening was well attended as we excitedly listen to stories about love. Thanks to all who came.
The evening started with Ms. Emily Greenwood who read from her recent release, The Beautiful One.
A Picture Says a Thousand Words…
The ton is buzzing about The Beautiful One, a scandalous book of nude sketches. Only two men know the true identity of the striking woman depicted, and they are scouring the countryside, determined to find her.
But Not the Most Important Ones
The unlikely center of the scandal, Anna Black is forced to flee her home as disaster looms. Her tomboy’s heart and impertinent tongue serve her well when she meets the most brooding viscount ever to darken a drawing room. Will Halifax, Viscount Grandville, has his reasons for pushing people away, and when his outrageous teenaged ward arrives, he presses Anna to take on her care. But even as Anna begins to melt the viscount’s frozen heart, she knows that the more she loves, the more she has to lose. For although Will cares nothing for what makes Society titter, he has not yet seen The Beautiful One.
Ms. Siera London could not attend, but we read the blurb of her wonderful love story, Convincing Lina
She’s on a man-fast.
You heard her, a male detoxification plan.
WELCOME BACK TO SHELL COVE MEDICAL CENTER WHERE THERAPY SESSIONS IN SEDUCTION ARE JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED…
Lina James, psychiatric nurse and self-proclaimed independent woman isn’t going to allow another man to walk out of her life. Her love is officially off the market. She’s declared a preemptive strike on the male species with a man-fast. There’s just one glitch in Lina’s detox plan–Gideon. Her blood sugars spikes remembering the one kiss they shared.
Gideon Rice, is a veteran Marine and respected psychiatrist with more emotional wounds than his patients. He lives his life in camouflage–a wall between his rejection filled past and his new life ensures the two worlds never intersect. Gideon’s life plan is simple–give wounded warriors a place to heal and convince Lina James she’s the only woman for him.
When Lina’s past brings danger to her doorstep, she’s forced to accept Gideon’s help. His tender touch and determination to keep her safe, rocks the foundation of her man-fast, but she’s determined to resist her cravings.
How will she keep him at arms length when he is the safe haven she’s always wanted?
In a high stakes game of cat and mouse, how will they find the courage to risk their hearts in a fight for their lives?
We then heard from our last Guest Author, Ms. Sally MacKenzie, who read from her latest, What To Do With A Duke
Welcome to the charming, fatefully named village of Loves Bridge, where a woman destined for spinsterhood can live a life of her own choosing—or fall unexpectedly, madly in love…
Miss Isabelle Catherine Hutting would rather be lounging in the library than circling the ballroom in search of a husband any day. So when Cat hears that the town’s infamous Spinster House is open for a new resident, she jumps at the chance to put all this marriage business behind her. But first she must make arrangements with her prospective landlord, Marcus, the Duke of Hart—the most handsome man she’s ever seen, and the only man who’s ever impressed her in the least…
With her wit, independent spirit, and not least of all her beauty, Marcus can’t help but be stirred by Cat. It’s terribly unfortunate he’s not looking to marry, given the centuries-old curse that left his family with the Spinster House to begin with: No duke shall live to see his heir’s birth. But is there a chance the curse could be broken—in true fairy-tale fashion—by an act of true love? The race to Happily Ever After is about to begin…
These wonderful books are all available via Amazon.com. I will be posting some more pictures of the evening at a later time. Thanks again all!

Her counseling practice as the Breakup Doctor—on call to help you shape up after a breakup—is so busy she’s expanded to offer group sessions. (Turns out there are far more than fifty ways to leave your lover.) Her radio show and advice column have made her a local celebrity, and even her personal life, after some gruesome breakups of her own, is in recovery: Ben Garrett started out as a revenge date against an ex, but has turned into so much more.
But when sizzling-hot Chip Santana, an old client she once shared a rather unprofessional midnight roll in the sand with, comes back into her life asking for her help, Brook can’t say no. Yet while she’s busy stitching up his relationship troubles, Chip reveals much more than a therapeutic interest in her.
In the standoff between her heart and her hormones, Brook’s cool, collected Wise Therapist persona begins to crack like thrown wedding china. She’s yelling at recalcitrant cheating husbands. Offering crazy advice to radio callers. She’s even hugging her clients.
When the situation goes critical, Brook’s forced into a decision she isn’t ready to make—and the Breakup Doctor has to decide what kind of casualties she’s willing to accept.

The less intrusive knowledge he has about others, the better. But a brush with the aloof Detective Jori may change his mind. He can’t ignore her warm essence, especially when she impossibly summons him into her dream.
As mounting clues lead Jori and Del to go deep undercover into a Nevada brothel, an ancient succubus preys on every living soul within, placing Jori and Del on separate hallucinogenic paths of destruction. Will they learn the truth behind the brothel and their mission before succumbing to an ulterior plan neither of them wishes to see?

Ms. Joy Daniels, Author of Nashville Trio: A Music City Menage
Ms. Joy Daniels writes romance that’s smart, sexy, and down-to-Earth. She especially loves erotic romance because it allows her to expose hers characters completely – strengths, flaws and scars. She is currently working on the next two stories in the series. She recently released Soul Seduction, the first novella in a new paranormal series based on the Kabbalah.
Ms. Daniels will be reading from recent release, Nashville Trio, a steamy MMF ménage novel about a country singer and the two very different men in her life. USA Today called it an “an enjoyable and sexy read.” Now available through iTunes and Amazon.

Ms. Harper Kincaid, Author of rule breaker
Born in California and raised in South Florida, Ms. Kincaid moved around like a gypsy with a bounty on her head. Along the way, she worked as a community organizer, a professional matchmaker, an art teacher, a popular blogger, and a crisis counselor (to name a few). All the while, longing to have the guts and follow-through to do what she really wanted: to write and become a published author. That wish has finally come true!
What else? She loves indie, lo-fi, complaint rock played on vinyl, wearing black because it’s slimming, the theater, well-informed optimism, happy endings (both kinds), and making those close to her laugh ’til they snort. She is a self-admitted change junkie, loving new experiences, but have now happily settled in the cutest lil’ town, Vienna, Virginia.
She knows there are a LOT of romance books and authors out there and is tickled pink with glitter that you’ve taken time to read hers. She is truly grateful and blessed. Just one more time can’t hurt…
Ms. Kincaid will be reading from her recent release, rule breaker.
Re-belle-ious, free-spirited Lauren Renwick has decided it’s time to trade her wings for roots. That means no more bad boys, no more foolish choices. Yet when she’s stood up on New Year’s Eve, her resolution to stick to her Mama’s Rules for Dating weakens. Especially when she spots sex-in-leather-and-tattoos, Jackson Sullivan.
One look at Lauren, and Jackson is hell-bent on getting her on the back of his Harley and riding straight for his bed. Their night together is an erotic rush that has a new word popping up on his horizon—forever.
Lauren tries to convince herself he’s just one last fling to get bad boys out of her system, yet she finds herself falling hard and fast for a man with a stalker ex and a meddling Irish family. Plus, he has zero chance of passing her uptight parents’ inspection.
Jackson has Lauren’s back, but if she wants all of his heart, she’ll have to meet him halfway—by ditching rules that hold her prisoner, and learning to stand up for what she really wants.
Warning: Contains several highly practical rules for dating—all of which will be broken in the most wicked ways possible, thanks to a domineering alpha male who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go after it…rules be damned.

May 18, 2014
Sorry for taking so long to post the happenings at the last Lady Jane’s Salon Silver Spring. It was, as always, a wonderful evening.
We started the reading with Ms. Mindy Klasky, author of the Diamond Brides Series, Reaching First. Ms. Klasky’s travels have taken her through various literary genres.
In addition to her light paranormal romances and category romances, Mindy has written traditional fantasy novels (including the award-winning, best-selling The Glasswrights’ Apprentice), short stories, and nonfiction essays. As Morgan Keyes, Mindy writes for middle grade readers.
She read from her latest Reaching First.
“Hotheaded Tyler Brock has one huge strike against him when he arrives in Raleigh as the Rockets’ star first baseman: he owes one hundred hours of community service for starting a bar fight. Lost in a new town with a new team, Tyler can’t confide his greatest shame to anyone—he can’t read.
When he’s assigned to work for Emily Holt, he’s in even bigger trouble. Emily is beautiful, uptight, and ready to shed her secret, unwanted virginity. They hit it off, in more ways than one. But when illiterate Tyler shirks his book-bound community service, Emily must hold him accountable.
Can this mismatched pair save each other by sharing their long-held secrets?”
Questions were asked about the research that went into the Baseball field and about the topic of illiteracy.
Our next guest was Dr. Catherine Asaro. Dr. Asaro is an author of science fiction, fantasy and thrillers, and has written over twenty-five novels, as well as short stories and non-fiction. Her acclaimed Ruby Dynasty series combines adventure, hard science, math, romance and fast-paced action. Among her numerous distinctions, she has won the Nebula® and Analog Reader’s Choice awards. Her most recent books are the anthology she edited, The Nebula Awards Showcase 2013 (Pyr), the novel Carnelians (Baen/ Simon & Schuster), and the anthology of her short fiction titled Aurora in Four Voices (ISFiC Press).
Dr. Asaro read from Aurora in Four Voices – The Spacetime Pool.
The Spacetime Pool is a novella about science, romance, adventure and strong characters.
After her reading Dr. Asaro talked about the use of science in her stories and the importance of making sure that when including formulas into your writing, one must make sure they triple check for accuracy.
Fans/readers really take an interest in how accurate the facts are and will ask questions if they find that they are not. Fortunately for her, as a Ph.D. in theoretical chemical physics from Harvard, she has been meticulous in her scientific calculations.
Our final guest was Ms. Nicky Pentilla, author of An Untitled Lady. Ms. Penttila writes stories with adventure and love, and often with ideas and history as well. She enjoys coming up with stories that are set in faraway cities and countries, because then she *must* travel there, you know, for research.
She lives in Maryland with her reading-mad husband and amazing rescue cat.
Ms. Pentilla read from An Untitled Lady. A historical romance about a young woman struggles to reconcile a tragic past and an uncertain future in a city on the brink of revolt.
Shocking family news forces Madeline Wetherby to abandon her plans to marry an earl and settle for upstart Manchester merchant Nash Quinn. When she discovers that her birth father is one of the weavers her husband is putting out of work–and a radical leader–Maddie must decide which family she truly desires, the man of her heart or the people of her blood.
An earl’s second son, Nash chose a life of Trade over Society. When protest marches spread across Lancashire, the pressure on him grows. If he can’t make both workers and manufacturers see reason he stands to lose everything: his business, his town, and his marriage.
As Manchester simmers under the summer sun, the choices grow more stark for Maddie and Nash: Family or justice. Love or money. Life or death.
Well I hope you enjoy finding out a little about each of our guest authors. Please check out their books either on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or at the Apple store

If you did not come, you missed a wonderful evening, the ambiance was cozy, humorous as we enjoyed stories of romance and hot sex. Talented authors Ms. Mary Behre, Ms. Monica Epstein, Ms. Megan Hart and Ms. Mindy Klasky entertained us with stories of struggles and happily ever afters.
The evening began with Ms. Mary Behre, who read from her latest release, Spirited (A Tidewater Novel) –
Running away from who she was...all Jules Scott wanted was to live a normal, quiet life–preferably one that didn’t include ghosts. Her ability to communicate with dead has brought her nothing but trouble. Despite her best efforts, needy spirits always find her and draw her into their otherworldly drama. When one implicates her in a series of deadly crimes, she may need to entrust her secrets to the person least likely to believe her…
He’ll do whatever it takes to catch her…Detective Seth English couldn’t get distracted from the big case he’s been working on, not even by his alluring new neighbor. He didn’t believe that Jules had anything to do with the string of robberies-turned-murders that he’s been investigating, but when she kept showing up in all the wrong places, his gut told him she knew more than she was letting on. To solve his case, he’ll need to expose what the sexy redhead was hiding–no matter how impossible the truth may be…
Not only was the story humorous and sexy, but Ms. Behre exhibited other talents as she proved to have a great voice for story reading.
Our next guest of the evening, Ms. Monica Epstein read from her recent release, Where There Is Will.
When she moves to London following her divorce, Michelle Loeser has no interest in looking for love. She needs to focus on surviving without her ex’s six-figure income, coping with a severe fear of heights, and rebuilding her confidence. And if she keeps her promise to her best friend, she’ll pursue her passion for writing too.
Will Sheridan found his passion early in life. At age eleven, he was cast in the starring role in a film series. Now, at the age of 25, he’s a celebrity at a crossroads in his career. He has no time for women who don’t understand his priorities.
When Will offers to help Michelle acclimate to the unfamiliar city in exchange for cooking lessons, she figures what’s the harm? But jealous fans and coworkers, eager paparazzi, and a distrustful mother see it differently.
We then had the pleasure of hearing from our next guest, Ms. Megan Hart, who read from her latest release, Flying.
Ever hear of wanderlust?
Every other weekend, Stella buys a ticket on the next flight out of town and leaves her life behind. Home is a place with too many memories, and departure is the sweetest possible distraction.
As soon as she arrives at her destination, Stella visits the airport bar. She orders a drink and waits for the right guy to come along. A bored businessman, a backpacker, a baggage handler just off shift. If he’s into a hot, no-strings hookup, he’s perfect. Each time is a thrilling escape from reality that gives the term layover a whole new meaning.
When Stella meets the enigmatic Matthew in Chicago one weekend, she hits some serious turbulence. Something about him tells her she’s not the only one running from the past. The connection between them is explosive, and for the first time, one taste is not enough for Stella. But returning to find a gorgeous man waiting for her is the easy part—facing the reason she’s there is a whole other matter….
The final guest of the evening, Ms. Mindy Klasky read from her Baseball series, Perfect Pitch.
Reigning beauty queen Samantha Winger is launching her pet project, a music program for kids. All she has to do is follow the pageant’s rules—no smoking, drinking, or “cavorting” in public.
That’s fine, until D.J. Thomas—God’s gift to baseball—throws her a wild pitch. He slams her in an interview, and the video goes viral. Sam’s no shrinking violet. She parlays D.J.’s apology into a national T.V. appearance—and a very unexpected, very public kiss.Soon, paparazzi catch the couple in a steamy make-out session, and Sam’s music program is on the block. The blazing hot relationship is threatened even more when D.J.’s son begs to trade in Little League for music class.
Can Sam and D.J. sizzle past the sour notes and find their perfect pitch?
We discovered that evening that Ms. Behre (pictured here with Ms. Hart) was Ms. Hart’s biggest fan – how cool was that?
I had to include the wonderful and talented Ms. Alethea Kontis, author of Enchanted.
Loved the shirt…
Hope you enjoyed hearing all about recent guests and their wonderful stories.
Hope you join us next month when Lady Jane’s Salon Silver Spring welcomes Ms. Catherine Asaro, Ms. Nicky Penttila and Ms. Lynne Silver.
March 9, 2014
Last night at Lady Jane’s Salon Silver Spring readers and authors had a wonderful time.
The evening began with the first guest of the evening, Ms. Anne Barton who read from her latest historical regency, Once She was Tempted.
Ms. Barton’s story is full of history, risque portraits, and of course, love. When asked how she would see herself had she lived during the period she loves so dearly, she replied “Probably a servant” because she would most likely be poor.
She was encouraged that perhaps she may have been poor but at least inkwells would have been available to pursue her love of writing.
The next guest was Ms. Robin Covington, author of Sweet Southern Betrayal.
Ms. Covington read from her latest release, a paranormal romance with vampires and werewolves. This is Ms. Covington’s first paranormal in what is to be a three book series. The scene she read from was hot and sexy.
Asked why the move from contemporary romance to paranormal, Ms. Covington said because she needed to do it.
The story was dying to be told. The move is not permanent for she will continue to write contemporaries.
Ms. Carlene Love Flores was introduced next and she read from her latest, Sin’s Haven.
Ms. Flores, in her novel, Sin’s Haven adds romance and sex to the world of technology.
This is also the first book in a three book series.
Ms. Flores posted her experience during her visit in her blog – please check it out.
Our next guest was Ms. Kimberly Kincaid, author of Turn up the Heat.
Wannabe chef, Bellamy, escaping her demons ends up stranded on a snowy evening with a gorgeous and sexy mechanic.
Chaos ensues as the two struggle with fighting the intense attraction and passion. Of course, love conquers all.
Ms. Kincaid has been known to do extensive research with firefighters and mechanics. Can we honestly say we don’t envy her…No! Though many in attendance offered to volunteer to go with her next time she needed to do research.
Final guest of the evening, was first-time published author, Ms. Tracey Livesay. Ms. Livesay read from her romance, The Tycoon’s Socialite Bride, a story about a marriage of convenience and revenge.
She also gives a brilliant analogy of the game of baseball and courtship.
Asked how did it feel to finally see her work in print and Ms. Livesay responded by saying that she was still reeling from the thought.
Guest Authors for the evening. (from left: Tracey Livesay, Anne Barton, Carlene Love Flores, Robin Covington and Kimberly Kincaid).
We had a special visitor, Ms. Sandra Bunino, an erotic romance author of several novellas including The Satin Rose Experience series.
Ms. Bunino holds an MBA in business management and she puts it to good use by creating Alpha heroes who dominate the bedroom as well as the boardroom.
When not staying up past her bedtime dreaming up ways of torturing her oh-so-sexy heroes, she can be found shopping for shoes or saving turtles.
More to follow…shortly.
March 8, 2014

Rumors of the murders reach Princess Vicky, daughter of Queen Victoria and grieving widow of the German Emperor Frederick III.
When her niece Princess Maud visits, she brings with her even worse news–the Metropolitan Police have a suspect. It’s Vicky’s nephew, Crown Prince Eddy. Desperate to clear her family’s name, Vicky rushes back to England.
Our final guest for the evening was Ms. Candy Lyons – President of Washington Romance Writers, writing as Ms. Mackenzie Lucas and reading from her new release, Essence.
All Haven Jameson ever wanted was to own a little piece of paradise. Now, she does, having established a successful luxury spa in St. Augustine, Florida.
But when the property next door is sold to a mega developer and his pro-golf celebrity brother, who design trendy, bustling playgrounds for the rich and famous, she fears her dream could slip away. Confronted by her late husband’s infidelity, Haven learns everything she believed about her marriage was a lie; so she finally sets aside her grief and opens her heart to loving the widowed pro-golfer who is her biggest professional competition.
In the end, Haven discovers that living a safe, loveless life is far worse than embracing passion and taking a chance on a man who’s vowed never to love again. And that, sometimes, the best paradise of all can be found inside our own hearts.
A special thanks to everyone who came to support and cheer our guests.
Hope you join us next month as we welcome: Ms. Anne Barton, Ms. Carlene Flores, Ms. Kimberly Kincaid and Ms. Tracey Livesay.
Till next time…
January 12, 2014
It was a wonderful evening last night at Lady Jane’s Salon Silver Spring 2nd Romance Fiction Reading. Talented Greater Washington Authors showed up, despite the rain, to support fellow authors Ms. Laura Kaye, Hard as it Gets, Ms. Kimberly Kincaid, Pushing the Line, Ms. Sally MacKenzie, Surprising Lord Jack and Ms. Ava Miles, Nora Roberts Land.
The ambiance was one of excitement and support toward one another as the ladies and gentlemen mingle for 1/2 hour before and after the readings.
Ms. Laura Kaye, a New York Times and USA TODAY bestseller, is the author of over a dozen books in contemporary and paranormal romance. She was the first guest to read from her novel, Hard as it Gets – This is book 1 of a new hot series for Ms. Kaye. According to #1 NYT Bestselling Author J.R. Ward, Hard as it Gets is an “Edgy, sexy and full of suspense! A great read from a great new author!”
Our second guest to read was Ms. Kimberly Kincaid. Ms. Kincaid read from her latest release, Pushing the Line. She believes in fiery yet flawed characters destined for a crash-course in falling in love– usually the hard way– and injects her trademark humor as well as poignant touches into her writing to create her stories.
Ms. Sally MacKenzie, a USA Today bestselling author, writes funny, sexy romances set in her favorite time period (other than the present): Regency England.
Ms. MacKenzie read from her Book 2: Surprising Lord Jack of the “Duchess of Love” series.
Our last wonderful guest for the evening was Ms. Ava Miles. Ms. Miles burst onto the contemporary romance scene after receiving Nora Roberts’ blessing for her use of Ms. Roberts’ name in her debut novel, NORA ROBERTS LAND, which kicked off The Dare Valley Series. Though she read from her Book 1: Nora Roberts Land of her Dare Valley Series, the series is now in Book 5.
The readings were sexy, hot, with lots of humor and with characters as real as you and I. Characters searching for that happily ever afters despite obstacles we can all relate to.
Big thanks to our guest authors and those in attendance who took time from their busy writing schedule to support the wonderful fiction genre of Romance and Lady Jane’s Salon Silver Spring own charity – the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation.
Till next time…
Lady Jane’s Salon Silver Spring was a huge success thanks to our guest authors and everyone who came to cheer and support them on.
The evening began with the introduction of LJSSS’ inception history and goals. Then Ms. Meredith Bond was introduced for a reading from her novel Magic in the Storm. She read from a scene where her heroine happens upon the hero bathing in the lake-very vivid imagery.
After her reading she was asked several questions, including the inspiration for her antagonist, who embodied evil like no other fictional character I have ever come across.
Ms. Bond was followed by Ms. Eliza Knight, who read from The Highlander’s Sin, her latest released, about about a assassin for hire who repents after meeting an angel. It is the sixth book of the “Stolen Bride” series, by Ms. Knight. According to Night Owl Romance Reviews, “Ms. Knight has a wonderful gift of writing wonderful characters that pull the readers into the story”. And finally, the evening ended with Ms. Janet Mullany’s reading of A Certain Latitude – a hot historical that promises according to Pam Rosenthal/Molly Weatherfield to be “A marvel of sex, smarts, and wit.” Ms. Mullany brought her own hero and when asked who was her inspiration for her fictional heroes he modestly admitted to being the culprit.
More pictures to follow.
I hope you enjoy.
